RUN EVENT IN FRANKSTON

When: Sunday 16 November 2025
What: Frankston Running Festival www.runthepen.com.au

As a result there will be:

Approximately 2000+ athletes, supporters, family and friends in the area over this weekend
Partial Road Closure of NEPEAN HWY northbound lane from Peir Promenade to Fletcher St, Frankston.
Full Closure of NEPEAN HWY Northbound Lane only from Fletcher St Frankston to 697 Nepean Hwy, Carrum.
We have worked closely with the Frankston City Council, VicRoads and our Traffic Management company (Miepol) to make sure there is as little impact to local residents as possible.

THE EVENT

The Frankston Running Festival will attract participants from all over Australia (+international visitors) and consists of a 5km Run/Walk, 10km Run, 15km and a Kids 1km Dash distances. This event will deliver a major economic benefit to the area and we are excited to be able to share this with the Frankston local community. ROAD CLOSURES
Nepean HWY Southbound traffic will not be affected during this time other than a reduced speed zone.

NEPEAN HWY Northbound traffic changes

Stage 1 – NEPEAN HWY (Peir Promenade to Fletcher St, Frankston) NORTHBOUND only - Two lanes will be closed for runners and one lane open for local traffic from approx. 6:30am – 8:30am.

Stage 2 – NEPEAN HWY (Fletcher St, Frankston to 694 Nepean Hwy, Carrum) all Northbound lanes closed from approx. 6:30am – 9:30am

ACCESS IN AND OUT OF YOUR PROPERTY

Full Access in and out of all properties via the Nepean Hwy will be maintained during the event. All side roads will remain open and traffic controllers will be in place along the closure to assist you.

Please note : Residents along Nepean Hwy (Fletcher St to 694 Nepean Hwy, Carrum) only, you will only be able to turn left via your property onto Nepean Hwy during the event. To re-enter your property during these closure times you must turn onto Nepean Hwy via a northern street/road and turn left onto Nepean Hwy and head South to your property entrance.  

Traffic controllers and volunteers will be present at all times to assist pedestrians and residents if and when required.

Event People

Our newest event on the fun run calendar is the Frankston Running Festival will be back in year 3. This will be a return course with the start/finish line at Frankston waterfront (Frankston Pier) to Keast Park Seaford on Sunday 16 November 2025. This will be an opportunity for elite athletes and fun run enthusiasts to have a unique experience running along a traffic-free Nepean Highway with the unmissable and stunning backdrop of Port Phillip Bay.
The weekend features a variety of running & walking events to suit all ages and fitness levels. All finishers receive a finishers medal.

🏁 RACE DISTANCES & START TIMES

📍 All races start and finish at the Frankston Waterfront


All Distances will Start/Finish from Frankston Waterfront
15km - 7.20am (Rego Close 7:00am)

5km - 7:35am (Rego Close 7:15am)
10km - 7:50am (Rego Close 7:25am)

1km Kids Race - 9:45am (Rego Close 9:00am)
Presentations 9.30am (approx) 


👧 1km Kids Race

To ease congestion, the Kids Race will have wave starts:

  • Wave 1: Ages 8+
  • Wave 2: Ages 7 & under (10 minutes after Wave 1)

The Kids Race is not timed.
Parents may run alongside younger children — no additional entry is required.

🏅 Finisher Medals

Every participant who crosses the finish line will receive an official Finisher’s Medal.

🏃‍♀️ Start & Finish Line

All events start and finish near the Frankston Foreshore (by the pier).
A warm-up and race briefing will take place 15 minutes before each start time near the start line.

Your official race time begins when you cross the start line, not when the horn sounds — so there’s no need to rush at the start!

💻 Online, Late & On-Day Entries

Online entries close: Friday, 14 November 2025, at 6 PM

Late entries available at race venue:

  • Saturday, 15 November 2025: 12 PM – 5 PM
  • Sunday, 16 November 2025: Up to 45 minutes before each race start


🌊 Course Details

Enjoy the scenic Frankston Foreshore course, starting at Frankston Pier and following Nepean Highway to Eel Race Road, Carrum, before looping back.

🚫 No dogs, bikes, scooters, prams or rollerblades are permitted for safety reasons.

Timing & Cut-Offs:

No official cut-off times, but please aim to finish within 3 hours.

Important:
Each athlete is responsible for knowing the course. Failure to complete the full course — including all turnaround points — will result in a DNF (Did Not Finish) status.

🎟️ Bib Collection & Timing Devices
Each competitor will receive a race bib with an integrated timing chip to record accurate results on race day.

You’re welcome to collect bibs for friends or family.
Please have the following details ready:

🏃‍♀️ BIB POSTAGE 

📮 Posted: All race bibs were sent with Australia Post on 30 October.

❗ Didn’t receive your bib?
No stress! Simply visit the Registration Tent on race weekend (see pickup times above) to collect a replacement bib.

💸 Postage Fee Refund

If your bib doesn’t arrive for any reason, you can request a refund for your postage fee, as we’re unable to send replacements close to the event date.

🏃‍♂️ Already Have Your Bib?
If you’ve already received your bib — either by post or picked it up on Saturday — you don’t need to line up again on Sunday morning.
👉 Just head straight to the start line when you arrive and you’ll be ready to race!

👕 Merchandise Collection
Pre-purchased merchandise can be collected during bib pickup hours from the merchandise tent near the start/finish area.


WITHDRAWS / CHANGES – TERMS & CONDITIONS

The timeframes below are calculated from the event date.

💸 Refunds

A reminder: during registration, you had the option to purchase insurance through Active.com, which allows you to claim a 100% refund for changes in circumstances.
If you selected this option, please start your claim directly through Active.com, as it’s the quickest way to recover your entry fee.

Refunds through Event People are available as follows:

  • Up to 8 weeks 75% refund
  • 4–8 weeks 50% refund
  • 1–4 weeks 25% refund
  • 0–7 days No refund


No refunds are available after the final time period under any circumstances.

If an event is postponed, your refund window will remain based on the original announcement date.

🔁 Event Transfers

  • Transfers are available up to 7 days before the event.
  • You may transfer your entry to one of our future events:
  • Transfers can be made to events of greater or lesser value:
  • If transferring to a higher-priced event, you’ll pay the difference.
  • If transferring to a lower-priced event, no refund or credit will be given.
  • You cannot transfer into an event that has already reached capacity.
  • Each entry can only be transferred once.
  • Once the original event has passed, transferred entries cannot be refunded.


🔄 Change of Distance

  • You can switch to a shorter distance — no refund or credit is given.
  • You can upgrade to a longer distance by paying the price difference (if applicable).
  • If you already have your bib, visit the registration tent on race weekend to exchange it.


🚫 No transfers of entries between athletes are permitted.

🚴‍♀️ Bike Parking

Bike parking is available at the event site — a great way to warm up!
Please bring your own lock.

🚻 Toilets

Public and portable toilets are available:

  • At the event site
  • Along the course (signposted locations)


⛑️ First Aid

First Aid will be on site and roving along the course.
If you need help, notify a:

  • Drink station attendant
  • Course marshal
  • Course bike rider


🎽 Clothing Bag Area

A clothing bag drop will be located in the event village.
Please do not leave valuables, as the organisers are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

💧 Drinks on Course

Water & 32GI Sports Drink every ~2.5km and at the finish line.

Refreshments also available post-race.

5km runners: self-serve drink station at the 2.5km turnaround.

Toilets located at two drink stations.

⚠️ Course Contingency

Event People reserves the right to alter the course, start time, or race format if required by sponsors, councils, police, or other authorities.

Each competitor will receive a disposable timing bib — please ensure your bib is visible and cross all timing mats.

Ample parking is available around the start/finish area.
🚫 No parking within the foreshore car park area until all distances have started.

📜 Run Rules & Participant Expectations

  • Race bibs must be worn and visible at all times.
  • Dispose of rubbish only at designated aid stations.
  • No non-participants (runners, cyclists, coaches) on course.
  • No dogs, bikes, prams, scooters, or rollerblades allowed.
  • Participants must complete the full course to receive results.
  • Withdrawals must be reported to the information tent near the finish line.
